CEO's Independence Message

Message from the International Education Agency (IEA)
Honouring 50 Years of Independence – Papua New Guinea
The International Education Agency proudly joins the people of Papua New Guinea in celebrating 50 years of independence — a golden jubilee that reflects the strength, diversity, and enduring spirit of this extraordinary nation.
PNG’s golden jubilee serves as an ideal opportunity to contemplate the accomplishments made over the past fifty years. Since 1975, Papua New Guinea has charted a bold and vibrant path, rich in culture, community, and resilience.
As PNG marks this historic milestone, the IEA also looks ahead to its own 50th anniversary in 2026 — a moment to reflect on our shared legacy of educational excellence and partnership. For nearly five decades, we have worked hand in hand with communities across the country to foster vibrant, high-quality learning environments that empower our students to thrive.
The IEA is honoured to have shared in this journey, supporting generations of learners, educators, and leaders who continue to shape the nation’s future. This dual celebration is a powerful reminder of what can be achieved through shared vision, collaboration, and commitment.
By investing in the education of youth across PNG, the IEA looks forward to working together with PNG’s leaders and communities, promoting cultural pride, fostering innovation and strengthening academic aspirations across this great nation.
PNG’s celebration symbolizes the values of leadership, determination, and aspirations of Papua New Guinea’s communities and leaders and on the occasion of its 50th anniversary, the IEA extends its heartfelt wishes and congratulates the country’s leadership and all Papua New Guineans.
