IEA PNG Students Raise K10,000 for Mulitaka Disaster Relief
Students from the International Education Agency (IEA) PNG’s 18 schools have come together in an inspiring show of solidarity, raising K10,000 to support victims of the devastating Muliwaka landslide which occurred in May 2024. Student-led fundraising activities in each respective school, demonstrated learner’s compassion and leadership for their fellow PNG communities.
The funds raised will go towards emergency relief efforts, assisting families who have lost homes, loved ones, and livelihoods due to the disaster.
Dr. Cherie Litwiller, Director of Education, commended the students for their dedication to helping those in need.
“I am incredibly proud of our IEA students for their generosity and leadership. This donation speaks volumes about their character and willingness to make a difference. It reflects the values we instill in our schools—compassion, community service, and social responsibility,” she said.
The landslide in Mulitaka, Enga Province, has been one of the worst natural disasters in recent PNG history, affecting thousands of people. As the country and international partners mobilize aid, the contribution from IEA students is a testament to the power of collective action.
IEA PNG continues to encourage a culture of giving and social awareness among students, fostering the next generation of compassionate leaders.
