School Mission Statement and Strategic Initiatives

Our Mission

Wewak International School provides a high quality standard of private international education that is relevant to the academic, social, cultural and sporting needs of students in a small urban centre of a developing country.

Wewak International School promotes the fulfillment of this mission through:

Offering academic and cultural opportunities to the students of all abilities. Wewak International School provides education for students regardless of innate ability. Our programs are therefore designed to cater for students of all abilities, allowing elite performers to explore their potential and to ensure that others are able to participate meaningfully.

Our Key initiatives in achieving this goal are:

Establish academic support programs particularly in language area
Increase opportunities for peer interaction and student participation in school
activities such as school assemblies
Provide an effective integration of a range of technologies across all key
learning areas , which develop a challenging and teaching program whilst assisting learners to be confident, productive and creative users of information and communication technologies.

Effective communication and involvement within school and its community is essential to successful functioning. Strategies for encouraging parent involvement must take account of the community we serve, their communities and their beliefs about the role of the school.

Our Key initiatives in achieving this goal are:

Promote effective communication throughout the school by having term calendars in to the other established procedures.
Fortnightly newsletters
Offering a range of outside activities to encourage parents into the school such as fun days and get to know days.
Include classroom visits when it’s convenient clients.

Location

Wewak International School is located on Wewak Hill, with beautiful scenic lookouts right around the hill. It is one of the safest residential areas in Wewak. Wewak town is just 4 minutes walk down the foot of the hill. The school occupies 3 200 square meters with five classroom blocks of which two are on rental.
