Vanimo International School is located
within the township of Vanimo and is about 10m away
from the white beaches of Sandaun. The land and building
that the school operates in is owned by Vanimo Forest
Products who have allowed the school to function without
any charges. The school has the luxury of two tennis
courts and a mini field which is just right for the
number. The grounds are well maintained with several
shade trees and flowers surrounding the school.
Students
Fifteen students out of the total enrolment
are sponsored by Vanimo Forest Products annually as
part of their contract agreement. About 88% of the students
originate from Papua New Guinea. The grades range from
Early Years to Grade 8.
Conclusion
The motto, ‘Educating for Change’
is what Vanimo International School aims to advocate
within the stakeholders. We believe that helping the
stakeholders understand the changing world will boost
our efforts in educating the children in an isolated
location such as Vanimo. It is envisaged that students
who pass out of Vanimo International School will learn
how to become productive members of their community.
Vanimo International is gradually building reputable
public relations with the initiation of our ‘computer
club’ where people of all ages come and learn
how to use a computer. Our upper primary students help
with facilitating this club by being the ‘teachers’. |
