and the nation.
Our Message
Learn Together
Our school motto reflects the philosophy
of the school where students, teachers, parents and
members of the community learn together in a caring
environment, discovering and exploring to achieve excellence
in education.
About Us
Popondetta International School is a
K-8 school with an enrolment of around 139 pupils and
six teachers. Ninety per cent of the students are PNG
citizens. The school also operates an Early Learning
Centre for 3-5 year olds which has its own teacher and
caters 30 full time students.
The curriculum is based on that issued
by the IEA. Extra curricular activities have included
guitar, recorder, netball, soccer, swimming and computers.
The school is next door to the town oval and has large
grounds which are not fully developed. There is an opportunity
to expand the playground. Classrooms are very spacious
and well equipped. There is a separate library with
A/V facilities and an office and teachers resource
centre.
The school is committed to an activity
based, child centred approach to education where individual
differences are acknowledged and catered for. The children
work in multi-age classes and have access to a quality
selection of leaning resources.
The butterfly as our school emblem, represents
Oro Province as home of the largest butterfly in the
world, the Queen Alexandra Birdwing butterfly and symbolises
the potential each child is encourages to develop at
Popondetta International School. |
