Location and Facilities
Kimbe International
is situated in the township of Kimbe in the tropical
island of West New Britain, situated north of the Papua
New Guinea mainland. The school's grounds are very attractive
with well-maintained buildings and tropical rain trees.
Enrolment has increased significantly over the last
two years and the accomodation is growing to meet the
needs of this increase. Our Early Childhood Learning
Section (Foudation and Prep) has a large dedicated
teaching area with six classrooms assistants helping
the teaching staff and proving a high adult to child
ratio. The remaining primary classes are accomodated
in spacious second-storey rooms overlooking the school
playing field. The middle-school is housed in buildings
which overlook the younger children's grassed play
area. Specialist rooms include a library, a music room,
a senior general purpose laboratory and a technology
room. The school has a suite of computers in the library
and will soon have a further dedicated ICT laboratory.
A satellite disk was installed at the end of 2007 and
the school now has broadband internet access that is
spread around the school by a wireless network. The
administration area has recently been upgraded and
renovated to prodive a pleasant and professional welcome
to the school for visitors. A large and modern open-air
hall provides space for performance and assembly as
well as basketball, netball and badminton facilities

of families employed in the Oil Palm industry. There
is a diversity of cultures and our school population
includes students from Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands,
Australia, Britain, China, India, Indonesia, Korea,

Teachers
Teachers are recruited from overseas
and locally. There is a strong emphasis on developing
child-centred programs based on a team approach to

section have at least one Classroom Assistant.
